Fall Yard Cleanup, Sized Right

October 1, 2026 · Yard Debris

Proudfoot dumpster loaded with storm limbs and yard debris

Leaves, limbs, and the brush pile that's been growing against the fence line all summer: fall is when a lot of Lakelands yards get their once-a-year reset, and a dumpster fills up on that kind of debris faster than most people expect. Volume, not weight, is what runs out first.

Why Yard Waste Behaves Differently

A pile of limbs and brush is bulky and light. It fills a dumpster to the rail while the scale barely moves, which is the opposite of how a load of dirt or tile behaves. That means sizing for a big yard cleanup is more about how much space the debris takes up loose than about the two tons included with most rentals. If you're clearing a lot of ground, several trees' worth of leaves, a season of storm-downed limbs, a hedge row that finally got cut back, size up before you start rather than order small and find out mid-project.

Load It So It Actually Fits

Cut limbs to roughly four-foot lengths and stack them flat instead of tossing them in loose. A dumpster full of six-foot branches crossing every direction wastes most of its own volume on air pockets. Leaves compact reasonably well on their own; brush and small limbs don't unless you break them down first. Five minutes of stacking can be the difference between one dumpster and a second trip.

What Goes In, What Doesn't

Yard debris, leaves, limbs, brush, and cut grass all go straight in. What doesn't: dirt and stump material get heavy fast and push toward the weight limit even in small volumes, so mention it when you order if a stump grind or dirt is part of the job. Full detail on what's allowed either way is on the what goes in a dumpster page.

Sizing It

Most single-property fall cleanups land on the 15-yard, and bigger lots or anyone combining yard work with a garage or shed clear-out at the same time usually step up to the 20-yard. Both include 3 tons, which is more than enough for the volume of a normal cleanup.

Call (864) 871-4290 and describe the yard, roughly how many trees, how big the brush pile is, and we'll get you the right size. Flat rates and every dumpster we run are on the pricing page.
