Why the Cans Say Proudfoot

Proudfoot is a real family name. It's my mother's maiden name, a German surname that translates to exactly what it sounds like, and putting it on the door meant the work would carry the family's name around every county we serve. That tends to keep a person honest about how the work gets done.

We moved to South Carolina and started the company from nothing in January of 2022. No fleet, no customer list, just a plan to run a dumpster business the way we'd want to be treated as customers. I started it because it was honest work a family could build on, and in a country that fills this many cans, the work isn't running out.

What's really kept us going has been the people that we've met along the way. A lot of them, customers, builders, even competitors, have turned into real friends. That part has been the best of it.

A Dumpster Company That Answers the Phone

Plenty of companies around here let the phone ring out. Everybody has cans; a 20-yard box is a 20-yard box. So we decided to win on the part the others skip: pick up the phone, schedule a real time, show up when we said, and answer again when you call back. We're the ones you can get hold of, and our 156 Google reviews sit at 5.0 mostly because of that one habit.

That habit is also what turns a one-off rental into a relationship. The same homeowners call back for the next project, builders keep our number in the truck, and this business has introduced me to more of this county than I ever expected hauling trash would. The relationships are the part I value most, and the loyalty has run both ways.

The operation is still small on purpose: me, Jennifer handling the business side, a driver, and another set of hands. Two lots, one in Donalds where we live and one in Greenwood where most of the work is. Licensed and insured, and a member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. Sixty percent of our customers are homeowners, the rest are contractors, and both dial the same number.

Where We Work and What We Run

Four sizes of roll-off, 10 to 30 yards, with every price posted. The service area runs about forty miles out from Donalds, weighted toward Greenwood: Greenwood, Abbeville, Ninety Six, Honea Path, Laurens, Anderson, down to McCormick and the lake country.
